OutsideIn Goes On Tour
OutsideIn is Stella Adler’s arts re-entry program for the formerly incarcerated, people who are currently or formerly in various drug programs, and volunteers like me. We’ve been writing and devising around the theme of forgiveness for the past couple months, and in a few weeks we start our tour. We’re performing at Phoenix House in Long Island City, Manhattan Detention Center, Samaritan Village, Stella Adler Studio, and Educational Alliance. I think The Forgiveness Project is OutsideIn’s most dynamic show yet. I am so so so proud of this group of resilient humans. This show is extra special to me because it’s the first time one of my own students from jail has been released and joined the company. His name is Ramon, and I met him in Rikers Island last year when he was 16. He is truly a force of nature and only one example of the perseverance, imagination, and compassion that has been thriving in our rehearsals.
Shows are open to the public at Stella Adler on December 17th and 18th at 7pm. It’s free and first come first serve.
